BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – Children between ages 12 and 15 may be able to get a vaccine as early as Thursday, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday.

Because the FDA expanded emergency use of the Pfizer vaccines to that age group on Monday and an upcoming meeting of the CDC's vaccine advisory committee, the governor expressed his optimism.

"Following that review, Dr. Howard Zucker will meet with our Clinical Advisory Task Force and make a final recommendation, which means we could have full authorization for vaccinations to begin for 12 to 15 year olds here in New York as early as Thursday."

More than 48% of New Yorkers have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. More than 60% of adults have received at least one dose. https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/covid-19-vaccine-tracker
