Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A former City of Tonawanda man faces two years behind bars after admitting to stabbing a dog inside his home.

21 year old Emery Kawski pleaded guilty to aggravated animal cruelty in connection with the incident February 24th last year, where he admitted to intentionally stabbing a four year old Boston Terrier named Pop Rocks.

A necropsy determined the dog died from multiple sharp-force trauma wounds to his abdomen. Analysis of a knife, recovered from the kitchen sink of the defendant’s home, tested positive for canine blood.

While the case was pending in the Tonawanda City Court, The DA's office obtained a securing order to prohibit Kawski from owning, harboring, or having custody or control of any animals. After the indictment, Judge Case modified the securing order, over the prosecutors's objection, to allow him to continue to live at the residence on condition that he be supervised while in the presence of any animals.
