West Seneca, N.Y. (WBEN) - The historic Mayer Brothers Cider Mill and Bakery Store has officially opened for its 173rd season, and will remain open through Thanksgiving from 7 a.m.-to-7 p.m.
"We make fresh donuts every day, cider slushies, apple pies, apple cider," said Mayer Brothers CEO Garrett Mayer with WBEN on Wednesday. "This time of year, we're going to have lemonade slushies as well, but we're just focusing on what we think people like and what we think we're trying to do a good job at, which is make making fresh product and having it for people every day."
The shop has been open since 1852 in West Seneca when Jacob Mayer purchased a locally-operated apple pressing mill with the intention of serving local farmers and families who would bring their apples to be pressed.
"We've been around since 1852, since before the Civil War. I'm Generation 5," Mayer said. "It means everything my family and this business means everything to me and the community that supports it. So this is my life, and I'm trying to do the best we can with it."
The Mayer Brothers are also restarting their five gallon home and office five gallon water service. They are now offering home and office deliveries for many different kinds of water.
