Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – The Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) and Buffalo Waterfront Group have announced that a new restaurant will soon open at Wilkeson Pointe on the outer harbor.

The new counter-service restaurant, called 'Perro & Poni,' will feature Tex-Mex flavors with beach food, including tacos and a full bar.

About a dozen restaurant groups were considered for the location, but the group behind South Buffalo's 'Dog & Pony Saloon' was chosen because of its industry knowledge, proposed concept, and partnership approach, according to ECHDC.

"'Perro & Poni' looks forward to providing guests with fresh and delicious food and cocktail options, as well as fun, family-friendly events and experiences," said 'Dog and Pony Saloon' General Manager Suzanne Shatzel.

The restaurant will operate in a new 1,396-square-foot food service building, built as part of the Wilkeson Pointe Improvement Project, which began in September 2023.

The improvements to the 7-acre site between the Wilkeson Pointe water's edge and the nearby Fuhrmann Boulevard entrance include parking, restrooms, a new outdoor seating area, and improved landscaping.

The site is scheduled to reopen to the public in May.
