Pembroke, N.Y. (WBEN) - New York State Police responded to a crash involving 25-to-30 vehicles on the New York State Thruway on Thursday that shut down the Westbound lanes between the Pembroke and Batavia exits for several hours.
The I-90 West was closed into the evening hours on Thursday, while the I-90 East was able to re-open after a brief closure at the Pembroke exit.
State Trooper James O'Callaghan said tractor trailers and buses were among the vehicles involved in the accident.
"We have no significant injuries, a lot of minor injuries, which is a very good thing, considering the amount of cars involved in this collision," said O'Callaghan with WBEN shortly after the crash.
O'Callaghan said all lanes on the I-90 were blocked in both directions for a while.
"We have median exposures with vehicles. We have a lot of tractor trailers, which is obviously a little bit tougher to move or to get vehicles out of there. There's gonna be a lot of tow services," explained O'Callaghan.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
