Lockport, N.Y. (WBEN) - "We're ready to open the gates. It was a taxing, sweaty event to get ready, but we're looking forward to some cooler days."

Weather will be the X factor for any festival in Western New York this summer, but it's looking like a picture-perfect weekend for the Niagara County Fair in Lockport.

"All of the best laid plans can be completely ruined by bad weather or hot weather. But it seems like our prayers are being answered this year," said Justin Rogers, Executive Director of the Niagara County Fair on WBEN. "We're hoping the live music, the food, rides, games and all of the animals, will bring people out to experience all that we have to offer."

Rogers said when he got on the fairgrounds around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, he heard the cows.

"The cows were the loudest, but as I got into the barns, I heard the chickens clucking, the rabbits scurrying around and the pigs oinking," he said. "The 4H kids have done a great job too decorating their booths to educate the public
about how things go from farm to table."

There are a number of new additions at the fair. A corn fest, Bills legends will be signing autographs, Rustic Buffalo is offering a marketplace village, and there will be LIVE music at the Beer Tent Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.
