
Lockport, N.Y. (WBEN) - A man is dead and another is facing impaired driving and manslaughter charges after a Wednesday evening crash in Lockport.
The one-car crash happened around 7:05 p.m. near 5151 Lockport Junction Road. The driver, 52-year-old Thomas Summers of Newfane drove off the road and crashed into a utility pole, causing the vehicle to rollover.
A 47-year-old man who was in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Summers was taken to Lockport Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was charged with 2nd degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while impaired by drugs after being evaluated by an expert.
The crash is being investigated by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit.
