Olean, N.Y. (WBEN) - New York State Police says a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning on the Southern Tier Expressway in Cattaraugus County.

Troopers responded to I-86 in the Town of Allegany between Exits 25 and 26 this past Sunday for the report of a pedestrian attempting to wave down passing vehicles.

While patrol was en route, dispatch reported a vehicle collision in that area involving a pedestrian.

An investigation determined that Camrin Poe, 16 of Olean, was in the Eastbound lane of I-86 and was struck by a 2018 Dodge Durango. Poe was deceased at the scene, and the 41-year-old operator of the Durango was cooperative and showed no signs of impairment.

Poe was transported to Olean General Hospital for an autopsy.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation assisted in this collision.
