Polish American Arts Festival returns to Cheektowaga this weekend

The Cheektowaga Polish American Arts Festival

Cheektowaga, NY (WBEN) - Three days of Polish music, food, and culture will once again fill Cheektowaga Town Park this weekend.

The Polish American Arts Festival began in the 1970s as a way to celebrate the contributions of Polish immigrants and recognize Western New York as one of America's historically significant Polish American communities.

It's that rich tradition that organizers hope the festival can help boost.

"It's designed to take somebody from the shallow end of the swimming pool to the deeper end," said festival President Jim Lawicki. "Whatever it is that touches you - be it the cooking demo, the crafts, the music, the food, dancers - it's designed to hopefully inspire you to move it forward and pass it on."

That's why in addition to the usual festival activities, the Polish Genealogical Society of New York State will be on hand to provide help to those interested in researching Polish ancestors, immigration records and family history.

The Polish American Arts Festival begins Friday and runs through Sunday evening. Festival hours are Friday from 5:00PM to 10:00PM, Saturday from noon to 10:00, and Sunday from noon to 8:00. Admission is free.
