Poloncarz: I did nothing wrong

County Executive rebuts comptroller's claims of violating guidelines by playing hockey

Poloncarz rebuttal

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz is challenging claims by the county's top fiscal watchdog he violated NY Forward guidelines by playing hockey over the weekend.

Stefan Mychajliw says he received video of a whistleblower showing Poloncarz and others playing hockey at Northtown Center on November 15th.

Poloncarz was quick to respond. "I didn't hide it. I walked in the front door and said hi to my friends because I didn't play hockey. What I did was I got there and skated alone before they went on the ice a half before they started," says Poloncarz. "I didn't put my hockey equipment on. I put my skates on, my helmet, my glove and stick, and did a skate and shoot by myself."

Poloncarz contends any allegation to the contrary is wrong. In fact, he took a picture of himself with the time in the background to bolster his case.
