Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - After being put on hold for over two years, the City of Buffalo announced Tuesday that the Krog Group has resumed construction at the former Trico Plant in Downtown Buffalo.
The $112 million project was paused at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 following partial demolition.
It now resumes with a slightly different focus due to rising material costs. A new investment partner and $3.7 million in tax incentives from the ECIDA will get work going again.
"Fortunately, Peter Krog did not walk away when the pandemic hit and redevelopment costs skyrocketed. For that, my Administration and the residents of Buffalo are extremely grateful," said Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown in a statement. "The Trico Apartments and the office space this project will create, will be a major enhancement to downtown Buffalo, especially the neighboring Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus."
The building is set to feature over 240 apartments with a 6th floor rooftop terrace with a dog park, smart locks and thermostats, smart package lockers, door-to-door Valet trash pickup, and an indoor parking garage with 240 heated parking spaces. Rents are said to start at $1,250 per month.
