Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A sixth Starbucks store in Western New York has voted to unionize, becoming the 11th store nationwide to vote for unionization.
The Starbucks location at Delaware Avenue and Chippewa Street in Buffalo is the latest store to unionize, winning the vote in a landslide, 18-1, with one vote being contested.
The Delaware-Chippewa location joins the Elmwood, Genesee, Walden-Anderson, Sheridan-Bailey and Transit-French locations as stores in Buffalo to unionize.
In addition to the Buffalo store voting to unionize on Thursday, two locations in the Rochester area also voted in favor of unionization, bringing the new nationwide total of stores to unionize to 13.
The first Starbucks location in Rochester on Mount Hope Avenue voted to unionize in a 13-11 vote in favor. Shortly after, the store on Monroe Avenue and Clover Street in Brighton voted 10-3 in favor of unionizing with two votes being challenged.
Friday will mark another big day for stores voting to unionize, as three Starbucks locations in Ithaca, N.Y. will have their ballots counted. Another store in Overland Park, Kansas will also have their unionization votes counted on Friday.
