It was a 2.2 magnitude earthquake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It was centered in Lake Ontario, about 27 miles from Rochester.
It happened at approximately 7:19 pm Wednesday.
Many people reported hearing a rumbling sound that was similar to thunder.
