Olean, N.Y. (WBEN) - St. Bonaventure University's president says he has addressed a controversial social media post reacting to the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
According to President Dr. Jeff Gingerich, the university is aware of a social media post from one students made Wednesday which, he says, runs completely counter to this university’s beliefs.
"We have spoken with the student several times to help the student understand the gravity of the situation, and let them know how seriously the university is taking this," said Dr. Gingerich in a statement.
He says the university has initiated a formal review of the matter, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with institutional policies and student code of conduct.
The post in question shows the student smiling with the words "charlie kirk SHOT."
WBEN is not naming the student until there is independent confirmation.
