Lockport, NY (WBEN) Starpoint Central Schools clear the air on what caused Wednesday's lockdown. The district says a technical error caused the alert.

Superintendent Sean Croft says there was no actual threat or emergency situation anywhere on district property. The district says it has identified the factors that led to this incident. and in the last 24 hours worked with its Technology Department and administrative team to revise procedures to ensure that does not happen again.

Croft says it's reassuring the entire school community and law enforcement partners responded precisely as planned and intended. He also acknowledges this caused understandable stress for students and staff.
He adds counselors, psychologists, and social workers stand ready to provide support for any student who may need assistance processing the emotions and experiences connected to yesterday’s events.

Resources for staff support have also been made available for those who are in need.
