(WBEN/AccuWeather) If you’re planning to grill, host a cookout, or get out for Father’s Day activities, Sunday starts bright with plenty of sunshine early.
Sunday’s high reaches around 75 degrees. Clouds will build through the day, and rain is expected to develop later Sunday night, with temperatures sliding to about 60 degrees. AccuWeather Meteorologist Dan Pydynowski says it will be a comfortable start with low humidity for the dads on this Father's Day.
Father’s Day also lands on the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, bringing about 15 hours and 21 minutes of daylight and marking the official start of summer.
Even with summer officially beginning, the pattern will keep temperatures closer to late spring levels, with Sunday remaining mostly dry before rain returns Monday. The wet weather moves in during the first half of the day, creating a soggy morning commute and possible ponding on area roadways.
For the allergy forecast this week, there is a moderate risk for ragweed sufferers. Ragweed grows across much of the United States, and its pollen can travel long distances - typically triggering symptoms from mid-summer into early fall.
Monday will be cloudy and cool, with rain tapering to a few showers. The afternoon high is expected to be near 67 degrees, with ponding possible on streets and highways.
