Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It's been five years since Buffalo hosted a Tall Ship at Canalside, but that will change this weekend.
The Lettie G. Howard is coming July 5.
"We're so excited to have a Tall Ship back at Canalside," said Buffalo Waterfront General Manager Lauren Ford. "It's another reason to celebrate the 4th of July at the waterfront."
The Lettie G. Howard is the sole surviving example of a Georges Bank fishing schooner with a homeport of New York City.
The wooden hull ship was originally launched in 1893. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989, the ship has been completely restored.
It's expected to arrive at Canalside late in the afternoon on Friday, July 5th,

"We have a few different opportunities for people to view the ship. You can book a private sail on Friday night, two sails on Saturday and one on Sunday."
