Tonawnda, NY (WBEN) Town of Tonawanda Police say they've seen a recent trend in thefts from vehicles being used to complete professional services such as landscaping and lawn cutting. These vehicles are frequently left unsecured and accessible while parked on job sites.
Police say the open and unattended vehicles are especially vulnerable to opportunistic thieves looking for cash, bags, and valuable personal items. Although work vehicles are being targeted, thefts have not been limited solely to these types of vehicles.
Police urge the public to remain vigilant in keeping vehicles locked and never leave keys or valuables in an unattended vehicle and always keep bags or personal items out of sight.
