Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) - If your eclipse travel plans include the U.S. side of Niagara Falls, Destination Niagara is offering up some advice on where you might get the best view of the total solar eclipse.

Sara Harvey of Destination Niagara estimates a million people will come to the Falls on April 8. She expects a majority to flock to Niagara Falls State Park.

"Within the park itself, the eclipse will be positioned over the Horseshoe Falls. So excellent vantage points will be at Prospect Point and the observation tower within the park," said Harvey in an interview with WBEN. "There's also a chance you witness it from the waters. There's a hope that potentially even the Maid of the Mist will be open at that time, but certainly that's weather dependent, and the Cave of the winds will plan to be open as well."

Events are also planned at Old Fort Niagara, which is right along Lake Ontario.

"From what I understand, views are more likely to be clear that day, even if there is cloud cover if you're along the lake," Harvey said. "They're planning for crowds there,"

There's also an event slated to take place at Becker Farms in Gasport.

With the eclipse set for the afternoon, Harvey advises many to come early to get a good parking space, and also be sure to pack some snacks to enjoy the experience.
