With the holiday season rapidly approaching, people all over the country are preparing to make room for whatever presents might get opened under a colorfully-decorated indoor tree or near a beautifully-lit menorah or in relation to countless other special days coming before the end of the year.

But the CDC is warning that an unwanted gift might also get taken home from holiday gatherings.

The U.S. is in the grips of a “triple-demic,” with COVID joining forces with that old standby the flu and the RSV virus that affects children.

With all three illnesses floating about and passing from one person to another in any number of public places, almost 14% of Americans are currently residing in communities that are rated “high” risk for COVID.

Because of this high rate of contagion, the CDC has once again recommended that people mask up for indoor holiday gatherings.

The recommendation comes as a number of major cities are considering returning to their own masking recommendations.
