Poll: Harris and Trump are tied

While Vice President Kamala Harris continues to ride her wave of momentum, a new poll has found that the Democratic nominee and former President Donald Trump are closer than it seems.

The poll from the New York Times and Siena College found that among likely voters, Trump is at 48% and Harris is at 47%, within the poll’s margin of error.

Trump and Harris are set to face off against one another on Tuesday night in a debate hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia.

The debate could be a crucial moment in the race, especially since the last time Trump took the debate stage, it was against a completely different opponent, President Joe Biden. Now, the Republican nominee will need to change his game plan and show he is still the best candidate.

However, it will also be a big moment for Harris, as the poll found that 28% of likely voters feel they need to learn more about her, while only 9% said the same for Trump.

As for how voters currently view the candidates, 47% said they think Harris is too liberal, while 32% said they thought Trump was too conservative.

The survey is one of a few national polls to show that Trump and Harris are in a close race, as others show that Harris has a lead over Trump.

The Hill and Decision Desk HQ’s national polling averages show that Harris continues to lead Trump by almost four points.

The New York Times’ polling averages show Harris has a two-point lead.

Meanwhile, CNN’s polling averages of battleground states like Georgia and Pennsylvania show that the race is a toss-up.

With the debate set for Tuesday, both Trump and Harris could see the tides turn in their favor after they square off.

The poll was conducted among 1,695 registered voters between Sept. 3 and 6. There is a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.
