The gradual and wet weekday warmup that swept across the Buffalo-Niagara region is all but a memory now, as Mother Nature is reminding is it's still just February and there's plenty of winter left for the Western New York region.

Temperatures for the weekend will be winter-like, but any snow accumulation will be minor and not lead to any travel concerns, National Weather Service forecasters say.

"We will have scattered, light snow flurries across the Niagara Frontier today," NWS meteorologist Dave Thomas tells WBEN. "Not looking for much accumulation, most areas will be around an inch or less as far as snowfall goes."

Temperatures for th weekend will be seasonable and hover around the freezing mark.

While much of the eastern US will be impacted by a Nor'easter storm, it is expected to remain well to our south and east Sunday. "On our side, we're looking for only an inch of snow from the system here throughout the daytime on Sunday," Thomas notes.

It will remain seasonably cold through Tuesday, before another glimpse at milder weather midweek.

Another marginal warmup is expected Wednesday and Thursday with chances for both rain and snow.
