Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Here comes the rain, and then the wind!
"The worst of the winds will happen overnight tonight," says National Weather Service meteorologist Liz Jurkowski as she anticipates a wet day followed by a windy night across much of Western New York.
High Wind Warnings are posted for the Buffalo metro area, along with all of Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming and Chautauqua counties from late Thursday into early Friday. A Wind Advisory is posted for Cattaraugus and Allegany counties.
The strongest winds will kick-in after 7pm, says Jurkowski, who adds, "During that time you can see winds gusts up to 60 mph possible." Some downed trees and sporadic power outages may result from the strong winds, she says.
