Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Just like that, we went from wet to white across the Western New York region overnight into Friday.
"Snow," exclaimed National Weather Service meteorologist Jason Alumbaugh. "It's been a while," he added.
It's all more a nuisance than anything else, says Alumbaugh, with very manageable accumulation across much of the area. "Probably total snowfall amounts will be in the range of 1 to 3 inches," said Alumbaugh of the snow expectations for the Buffalo metro area.
Higher amounts are expected in areas where Winter Weather Advisories are posted for southern Erie County, Chautauqua, Niagara and Orleans Counties.
Forecasters expect 3 to 5 inches to accumulate through early Saturday morning with greater amounts along the Chautauqua Ridge.
The remainder of the weekend will be cold, but uneventful, says Alumbaugh. Temperatures Saturday will be chilly, in the mid 20's, he said. But Sunday? That's looking up, he says. "It looks like we could have a mostly sunny day. We haven't had in quite a while."
