Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - "We'll have a lot of dry time today," WBEN 7 meteorologist Aaron Mentkowski tells us about the daytime Wednesday as the threat of severe weather accompanies very warm conditions for this time of year.
Forecasters are warning that the spring warmth Wednesday will initially mask the potential for some severe storms that may be embedded within 3 or 4 rounds of showers and thunderstorms to rake across the region.
"The highest chance for the nasty stuff will come probably after 4 or 5 o'clock," National Weather Service meteorologist Bob Hamilton tells WBEN. The most concerning time, Hamilton adds, is late afternoon or evening.
The storms are part of a fast moving weather system crossing the nation and there is the potential for serious concern, says Hamilton. "The conditions today are a little more favorable for stronger, more organized, thunderstorms."
Additionally, some of the storms have the potential to spawn a tornado or two, says Hamilton. "This particular scenario also has the risk for rotating storms that could produce tornadoes."
Forecasters anticipate some severe advisories, watches and warnings to be posted and they'll appear for the Buffalo area in the forecast below.
