Wheatfield, N.Y. (WBEN) - Despite working in an economic landscape that is buffeted by high interest rates and supplies and workforce issues, Grand Island developer David Mazur is undaunted in his effort to build an 80-apartment complex in the Town of Wheatfield.

Mazur, through his Woodstream Landing LLC affiliate, is proposing the privately-funded, $14.3 million project on a nearly 10-acre, vacant parcel along Sawyer Road.

The project will include a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, with construction expected to start this coming spring.

Mazur, who has a portfolio of developed apartments and self-storage units, says he is confident the Woodstream Landings complex will move forward.

"As a developer, you are either stuck in the mud or you move forward," Mazur said.

The project still needs various Wheatfeld approvals and Mazur is seeking a tax break package from the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency.

Woodstream Landing comes as Mazur has just finished another, market-rate, 80-unit apartment complex in Batavia.

"I need another project to keep my guys going," Mazur said.

Mazur said he expects Woodstream Landing will take between 12 months and 24 months to complete and be move-in ready for apartment tenants.
