2 found dead in burning car near Bronx golf course

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Two people were found dead in a burning car in the Bronx early Monday, police said.

The two bodies were found around 4:15 a.m. as NYPD officers responded to a 911 call about a flaming car on Shore Road, near the Pelham Bay and Split Rock golf courses in Pelham Bay Park.

Police arrived at the scene to find a Honda Accord engulfed in flames on the side of the road. There was no evidence of a crash, WNBC reported.

Members of the FDNY extinguished the fire and discovered the two people inside the vehicle.

Both of them were pronounced dead at the scene. They have not been identified.

The medical examiner is working to determine the cause of their deaths.

Police said an investigation is ongoing.
