NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A gunman in a ski mask shot at a man outside the Harry Potter store in the Flatiron District early Friday morning, police said.
An overnight security guard was working inside the recently opened store at Broadway and E. 22nd Street around 2:55 a.m. when he “heard commotion,” according to police.
The guard then saw a man pressed up against a glass door in the rear of the store and heard a gunshot being fired at the man, police said.
Several witnesses in the area told police that a man in a ski mask drove up in a black car, possibly a Mercedes, and took out a gun before firing at the man who was pressed up against the glass.
No injuries were reported but a store window was shattered, according to police, who said an investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
Harry Potter New York, which is about a block away from Madison Square Park, opened back in June. The sprawling 21,000 square foot retail space spans three floors and features 15 themed areas with handcrafted props and virtual reality experiences.
