Suffolk County Police said 23-year-old Danis Gomez, along with four teens — ages 16 and 17, were in a stolen 2006 Nissan Sentra when the car backed into a vehicle, occupied by an adult male, in a parking lot on Candlewood Road in Bay Shore just after 9 p.m.

One of the occupants in the stolen Nissan allegedly pulled out a gun before fleeing the scene.

As the Nissan was making its getaway eastbound on Candlewood Road, police said the car veered into the westbound lane and crashed into the side of a marked police vehicle occupied by two officers.

Gomez and the teens then ran off on foot, but were apprehended by responding officers around 9:20 p.m.

The two officers were treated for minor injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital and released.

The Nissan, which had been reported stolen from Hempstead on Jan. 21, has been impounded.

Gomez, of Brentwood, and the four teens are charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.

They are being held at the Suffolk County Police Department's Third Precinct, pending their arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
