Police responding to a 911 call around 8:50 p.m. found the 58-year-old man lying on W. 41st Street, just west of Eighth Avenue, in the area of the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Police said he had severe head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

Investigators determined the man was lying under a 2017 Isuzu box truck on the south side of W. 41st Street when the truck’s driver drove off and ran him over, with the left rear tires causing severe injury to him.

It’s unclear why the man was lying under the box truck at the time. His identity is being withheld pending the notification of his family.

It’s also unclear if the truck driver was aware the vehicle had run the man over. Police were searching for the truck Friday.

The NYPD said no arrests have been made and that an investigation is ongoing.
