NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A yellow cab driver was punched by a passenger who tried to rob him in SoHo last week, police said.
The NYPD released surveillance images of a suspect Thursday after the cabbie was attacked early last Friday morning.
Police said the 41-year-old driver picked up a man at West Houston Street and Broadway around 3:50 a.m.

The cabbie was driving south near Spring Street when the man demanded cash and punched him through the taxi’s plastic partition, police said.
The would-be robber ultimately fled on foot empty-handed, according to police.
The driver suffered pain and bruising to his head. He refused medical attention.
Police said images of the suspect were taken at the Canal Street subway station at Sixth Avenue shortly after the incident.
