NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – Two crashes in Queens—one involving a hit-and-run driver and the other an alleged drunk driver—left two men dead early Sunday morning, police said.

The first crash happened around 3:10 a.m. at 144th Street and Foch Boulevard in South Jamaica.

Police said a 53-year-old man was driving a Nissan Altima northbound on 114th Street when the vehicle was struck by an Infiniti Q50, which was traveling eastbound on Foch Boulevard at a high rate of speed.

Responding officers found the 53-year-old inside the Nissan with trauma to his body. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified.

The driver of the Infiniti fled on foot after the crash, police said. He was still being sought Sunday.

Less than an hour later, an alleged drunk driver killed a Lyft driver in a crash in Maspeth, police said.

The two SUVs collided at Fresh Pond Road and Eliot Avenue shortly before 4 a.m.

The 47-year-old Lyft driver was traveling in a Toyota RAV4 southbound on Fresh Pond Road when his vehicle was struck by a Ford Explorer traveling eastbound on Eliot Avenue, according to police, who said the Ford's driver ran a red light.

Responding officers found the Toyota’s driver unresponsive inside the vehicle with trauma to his body. He was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified.

The Lyft driver's rear passenger suffered a broken leg, police said.

The Ford’s 22-year-old driver was transported to Elmhurst Hospital for an evaluation. Police said he was arrested for DWI.

Investigations into both crashes are ongoing.
