NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- An upstate New York man was charged Tuesday with assaulting a 2-month-old baby, authorities said.

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said that on Monday just before 8 p.m., sheriff’s deputies responded to a home in the Town of Beekman for a domestic dispute report.
When deputies arrived, a 2-month-old was found to have been injured.
Cops discovered that Tyler Papp, 24, had fled the scene, but was found not long after, and was taken into custody.
Officials have accused Papp of striking the infant causing injuries to their face.
The man’s relationship with the child isn’t clear.
The baby was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital before being transferred to Westchester Medical Center for further treatment.
Papp was charged with assault and resisting arrested. He was remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
He will appear in court next on Thursday.
Officials said further details about the case wouldn’t be released at this time “in order to protect both the privacy of others involved and future court proceedings.”
