
MEDFORD, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — A 39-year-old woman was killed in a single vehicle crash off the Long Island Expressway in Medford early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Suffolk County Police said the woman was driving a 2010 Mercury Milan in the left lane of the westbound Long Island Expressway approaching Exit 65 when the car swerved across the roadway, before it spun around and crashed into a wooded area at around 12:35 a.m.
The victim, whose name is being withheld pending family notification, was transported to the Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead.
A 40-year-old man, who was passenger in the car, was transported to the same hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials said the vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
