CORAM, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- Suffolk County police offered a $5,000 reward Thursday as they continue to search for a hit-and-run driver in the death of a heroic 13-year-old boy who saved his sister’s life during this month's crash.

Tyler Phillips was struck on Oct. 12 as he pushed his 13-year-old sister, Krystal Randolph, out of the way of an oncoming SUV in Coram.

The siblings were walking in a bike lane on Granny Road around 7:25 p.m. when the vehicle came up behind them.

Krystal said her brother jumped in front of the oncoming SUV. She was not seriously hurt, but he later died from his injuries. His organs were donated and will go on to save more lives.

Detectives believe the vehicle that fled the scene was a dark-colored 2005 to 2009 Chevrolet Equinox.

Police are offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 1-800-220-TIPS or using the P3 Tips app.
