WESTBURY, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — A Westbury bank became the latest to be targeted in Nassau County by an attempted bank robber this past week.
Police said that on Wednesday, a man walked into the Bank of America on Post Avenue around 2:30 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money and threatening to use a weapon. After reading the note, the 36-year-old victim walked away from her station, and the man, described as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall, fled through the rear door without any cash. No one inside the bank was harmed, and no weapon was used.
A day earlier, at a Chase bank on North Village Avenue, the robber approached the teller around 12:30 p.m., presented her with a note demanding money, and threatened to use a weapon. No weapon was displayed, and when the teller walked away, the suspect departed the bank empty-handed.
Thirty minutes later, at a TD Bank on Franklin Avenue in Garden City, a man with a similar description entered and approached the teller with a similar note. This time, the teller complied, and the suspect left with money.
Police told WCBS 880 that they were looking into whether the three crimes were committed by the same person.
Anyone with information is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911.
