NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Get ready Mets fans: Citi Field announced Wednesday that the stadium will return to full capacity next week.

Beginning Monday, June 21, Citi Field will return to 100% capacity for the 5:10 p.m. doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves.

Social distancing and mask requirements at the ballpark have also been eased, after Gov. Andrew Cuomo dropped most coronavirus restrictions throughout New York.

According to a press release, fans will no longer need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test, nor proof of vaccination to enter the ballpark with a valid ticket.

“The Mets are in the process of communicating with ticket holders regarding capacity increases and the elimination of vaccinated/unvaccinated seating sections,” Citi Field officials said in a release.

To celebrate the return to 100% capacity and upcoming Father’s Day, the team is offering fans a 25% discount for tickets purchases online until Friday at 11:59 p.m. Customers can visit Mets.com/FathersDay to purchase tickets and use the code “DAD” at checkout.

The discount does not apply to tickets for the upcoming subway series against the New York Yankees, scheduled for Sept. 10-12.

With an anticipated increases in attendance, the Mets are encouraging all fans to take mass transit and arrive early to enter the ballpark.

The news came several hours after the New York Yankees announced Yankee Stadium would be returning to full capacity on Friday.
