That also got us in the mood to hear some of our favorite pop duos: From Freddie + Bowie, to Macca + Michael, Elton + KiKi to Ashford & Simpson -- here are some of WCBS-FM's favorite duos of ALL TIME!
"Broadway" Bill Lee
"Under Pressure" - Freddie Mercury & David Bowie
Two guys who must have really understood each other!
"The Girl Is Mine" - Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson
After Michael absconded with the Beatles publishing library there musta been some real bad blood, still a great production.
"Brooklyn's Own" Joe Causi
Hall & Oates
Since 1977 with their very first number one record, who would have thought after 42 years and 40 million records sold they would still be around doing what they do best!
Ashford & Simpson
Starting out writing hits for the Motown Music machine as well as tunes for Teddy Pendergrass, Chaka Kahn, Marvin Gaye & more. They would enjoy number one R&B hits like "Found a Cure," "Solid," and more as well.
Sue Aller (Shannon in the Morning)
"Don't Go Breaking My Heart" - Elton John & Kiki Dee
My friends and I used to talk about boys and then dance to this song!
"Suddenly" - Olivia Newton-John & Cliff Richard
Ross Brittain's Picks:
For me, the best pop duo of all time is... Hall & Oates. Being a Philly guy, I've always liked them, and they're probably the best-selling pop duo of all time.
Growing up in Chicago, and going to high school in the late 60s, I do remember The Isley Brothers, "It's Your Thing" very well, and Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's "Ain't Nothin' Like the Real Thing" ...or maybe I just remember songs with the word "thing" in 'em.
