As expected, today marked the end of an era as morning radio pioneer Scott Shannon and his longtime partner Patty Steele said goodbye to the Tri-state airwaves after almost a decade serving listeners on WCBS-FM 101.1.

After joining WCBS-FM in 2014 -- following an already impressive career that has spanned over four decades, kicking off the "Morning Zoo" format with Z-100 in his early days, as documented in his brand new flick Worst To First -- with much of that time spent in New York City, radio legend Scott Shannon has officially retired from his “Big Show" duties in NYC.
Heard for almost a decade every morning on New York City's WCBS-FM with long-time co-host Patty Steele, entertainment reporter Brad Blanks, and a whole crew of returning friends and celebrities, Scott announced his decision to retire from daily morning radio earlier this year.
Scott closed the week with a bang, with Audacy New York Market President Chris Olivero on hand to officially re-name the studio the 'Big Show' crew resided in for the past nine years the "Scott Shannon CBS-FM Studio."
Thursday's final broadcast from the studio saw a number of guests roll through, including Scott's wife and daughter; Patty's husband, son, and daughter; former producer Kermit the Wonderfrog, as well as longtime friends/radio personalities Joey Reynolds, Ken Lane, Art Vuolo, Erik Nagel, and more.
Friday, December 16 was Scott and Patty's final broadcast on CBS FM, broadcasting from Valhalla, NY while serving the children of Blythedale Children's Hospital with the annual Scott Shannon Holiday Spectacular, raising money for much-needed care and support for kids in need. Once again, Scott was joined by a host of guests, including former 'Big Show' traffic reporter Joe Nolan, plus WCBS-FM's Race Taylor and 'Broadway' Bill Lee, artists Rob Thomas, Mark Rivera, Jax, SIX13, Constantine Maroulis, Jake Thistle, and Tim McLoone & The Holiday Express, as well as phone calls from his pals like Jon Bon Jovi and many more, all supported by incredible interviews, performances, and a Rock N' Roll auction.
“My thanks to Patty and everyone who has been with me all of these years. I could not have done this without all of you," Shannon told All Access. "The thing I am most proud of is that I got through the show without one tear – that took focus and concentration, and I came close to losing it a few times for sure."
Fans will be happy to know that Scott's syndicated America's Greatest Hits show, which airs Sunday mornings, plus his True Oldies Channel highlighting the best tracks from the 60s, 70s and 80s on WCBS-FM HD3 will continue.
Aside from getting a bunch of golf in down in Florida, Scott's next move is anyone's guess. Happy Trails, buckaroos!
