Attorney Mike Padden joined Cory Hepola Tuesday on WCCO to analyze the criminal complaint against Jake Patterson and what could come next as the legal process continues.
"This was a guy who really got lucky," Padden said after reading the details of how Patterson evaded police with Jayme Closs on the night of her kidnapping and the murder of Closs' parents.
Padden also said that he sees an insanity plea as the only possibility for Patterson's lawyers, but views that as still being very weak. "It seems like his conduct is such that he’s perfectly lucid...I think at some point he's just going to plead and get a life sentence."
