Safe and sound.

That's what Minneapolis police are saying about a five-year-old boy who was taken from a north Minneapolis home by his mother against a court order.

Azherian Smith was turned over to officers in the fourth precinct office late Monday night.

The MPD says concentrated publicity about the incident led to the boy being recovered.

There is no information on any arrests, and police are still looking into what happened that led up to the child's disappearance.

Authorities say at 2:00 p.m. Monday police responded to the 3600 block of 4th Street North on a report of a woman taking her young son from the home a family member who had full custody of the child.

Police say the woman identified as 24-year-old Latiena LaShaunne Shavell Smith, grabbed her son Azherian from the home and left in a car driven by a one of her friends.
