St. Paul Police identify the man who was fatally shot on the city's east side last Friday.

Walter Quarles, 39, died at the scene in the 1000 block of Suburban Avenue after he was shot multiple times after 8 p.m.

Laurence Wilson, 37, turned himself in and was charged with 2nd degree murder. Bail was set at $1 million.

According to court documents, Quarles's fiance told police that the victim and Wilson had an argument as they were driving by over a prior relationship Quarles had with the mother of Wilson's children seven years ago. One witness told police that Wilson shot Quarles, who was on the ground, from point blank range. Police recovered six casings from the scene and neighbors reported hearing what they thought were fireworks.

It's the 12th homicide in St. Paul this year.
