Minnesota is feeling the effects of the longest federal government shutdown in history.
Gov. Tim Walz joined Dave Lee on the WCCO Morning News today.
"These are our tax dollars, this is the way I'm comfortable with it working, but Minnesota sends more to the federal government and gets less back than all but three states," he said. "These are promises that they made. My concerns are, yes, they reimburse us, we have deep concerns in this state because out 11 sovereign nations are promised by their treaty rights payments that pay for their healthcare, their education, their security. Those are not being paid."
Walz says he's not asking the legislature for additional funding, but the state is able to assist the most vulnerable residents through the end of February.
He also discussed healthcare and the current legislative session.
