Metro Transit officials say a suspect has been arrested following an alleged assault at the Nicollet Mall light rail transit station this morning.
Spokesman Howie Padilla says it happened around 9 am and was captured on video surveillance. He says the victim was not seriously injured and has requested anonymity.
This is the second high profile assault at a Twin Cities light rail station. Last week, a graphic video came out of a juvenile assaulting an elderly woman at a St. Paul light rail station. Three juveniles were arrested in connection with that assault.
The victim has self-identified as KSTP reporter Matt Belanger. He was taken to the hospital with a significant injury to his eye but is expected to make a full recovery.
