Should Minnesota voters decide whether recreational marijuana is legalized?
A proposal in front of the legislature would do just that: put legal weed up to a constitutional amendment vote.
It's an idea being pushed by Minneapolis DFL representative Ray Dehn.
"I've got some people concerned that cannabis will now be part of our state constitution, and I remind folks that alcohol is actually part of our US Constitution. So this isn't that unusual."
Another bill before the legislature would legalize recreational pot as most other laws are enacted, with consent of both legislative bodies as well as the governor.
Minnesota legalized medicinal marijuana in 2014. Governor Tim Walz has has shown support of the legalization of recreational marijuana.
