A Twin Cities comedy writer is making a mark on Youtube with a parody song about being quarantined at home because of the coronavirus.
Jon Pumper's song "My Corona Home" is sung to the tune of "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys. It touches all the bases that are now familiar to most... running out of toilet paper, face-touching, hand-washing, even kissing. Pumper himself stars in the video, squirting hand sanitizer, playing with styrofoam, choking down canned beans, shoving visitors out of the front door, panic-buying hot sauce, and self-learning the mamba.
The video was posted two weeks ago and has more than 1 million hits. Pumper is music director Brave New World Workshop comedy theatre in Minneapolis.
On his Youtube page, Pumper says the song came to him when he and a camera technician suddenly found themselves with time on their hands. He also urges everyone to stay safe and help flatten the curve.
