The details of the kidnapping of 13-year-old Jayme Closs and the murder of her parents are chilling. The criminal complaint outlines the events of Oct. 15, when Jake Patterson is accused of going to the Closs home, shooting her father through a window at the front door and then tracking down Jayme and her mother who were hiding in the bathroom. The complaint says Patterson made Denise Closs put duct tape over Jayme's mouth, before killing her in front of Jamye.
Minneapolis defense attorney Joe Friedberg is not associated with the case, but tells WCCO radio some cases are indefensible.
"You try to handle it with some dignity. You actually do cross examine people to test their truthfulness. You do the best you can under the circumstances. That's your oath," he said.
Jayme was able to escape from under the bed last week after Patterson told her he would be gone for five to six hours.
