Roseville Police are investigating after a man and woman are killed crossing the street near Larpenteur Avenue and Woodbridge Ct, west of Rice Street. The male driver who struck them is cooperating with investigators according to police.
Police Chief Rick Mathwig said the accident happened just before 6:00 PM Thursday evening. He said when officers arrived the two victims were deceased.
“I don’t know if they were traveling together or if they just happened to be next to each other when they were struck,” said Chief Mathwig.
Mathwig said the driver of the car stayed behind after the crash. Investigators are also searching for the driver of a second vehicle that was heading westbound on Larpenteur from Rice Street.
“We know one vehicle struck both people, but we had a second vehicle drive by about the same time,” said Chief Mathwig.
The Chief said the warm weather likely motivated some folks to get outside for a walk and the area of Rice and Larpenteur can get busy.
Minnesota State Patrol is helping in the investigation and police are not sure at this point if alcohol or drugs played a role.
