Laura Oakes' One Cool Thing: U of M Gymnastics Team

We head to Dinkytown this week to introduce you to an athletic program that deserves a little more attention in this week's One Cool Thing!
Q: Looks like this weekend's One Cool Thing is a perfect "10" for our local gymnastics lovers?
A: Yes! The University of Minnesota women's gymnastics team is going gangbusters these days....they're currently ranked #6 in the country, which is no small feat. Part of their national success has a little something to do with a very special Junior named Lexy Ramler. She is ranked #1 in the entire country right now on the balance beam. Another one to watch for is Ona Loper, who is tied for ninth in the nation overall and on vault. You can see them and the rest of this fantastic team in action Saturday when the Gophers host Iowa at the Maturi Pavilion.
Q: For someone who's never been to a college gymnastics meet before, what should they expect?
A: This is a "dual' meet where each event will take place one after the next. There won't be a bunch of different events all going on at the same time to try to keep track of, so fans should be able to follow along pretty easily and get a good sense of what this team is all about. The cost for a ticket is only $5, and there's plenty of parking on campus. The meet starts at 6pm Saturday.
Q: Why is the U's gymnastics team so hot right now?
