Are you ready for some baseball? The Minnesota Twins certainly are as they hosted huge crowds of Twins fans for TwinsFest 2024.
For the Twins, this is the "unofficial" start to the season as they get set to report to Spring Training in Fort Myers, Florida in just a couple of weeks.
Plus, the Twins are only about a month away from their opening exhibition against the University of Minnesota Gophers on February 23 (a game that can be heard on WCCO Radio and the Audacy App).
WCCO Radio hosts Chad Hartman, Vineeta Sawkar, Henry Lake, and Jason DeRusha took the stage with Twins broadcasters Cory Provus, Glen Perkins, Dan Gladden and Kris Atteberry to talk to current and former Twins, manager Rocco Baldelli and more.
You can listen back to all of WCCO at TwinsFest 2024 below.
The Twins have made several headlines the week of TwinsFest.
First, Joe Mauer made it into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on his first try, becoming a rare first ballot Hall of Famer. He joins Kirby Puckett and Rod Carew as the only Twins to receive that honor.
The team also announced two new inductees for the 2024 Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame. Former General Manager Terry Ryan and the Twins' longest serving coach Rick Stelmaszek will enter the Twins' hall in August. "Stelly" passed away in 2017 but will be represented at Target Field by his family.
We also got news of a new children's book focused on Joe Mauer and his family. Written by KSTP-TV's Joe Schmit, "The Right Thing To Do: The Joe Mauer Story" hit book shelves and they spoke to WCCO's Vineeta Sawkar about it last week.
You can also keep up-to-date with the Minnesota Twins at spring training on WCCO Radio. Jason DeRusha and The WCCO Morning News with Vineeta Sawkar will both be bringing their shows to Fort Myers for a week's worth of broadcasts from Hammond Stadium and the Lee Health Sports Complex in February.
